Almost three years ago, the MIC family decided to create an exclusively female tournament with the aim of promoting the talent of girls who play football, offering a competition in which teams could enjoy a festive weekend before the end of the season.
After two consecutive editions in which the tournament has grown progressively, both in terms of the number of participants and its regional profile, this year MICFootfem is taking its first step towards internationalisation.
Catala FC is the first foreign club to participate in the competition. Founded in 2022 and clearly influenced by the Catalan football school, it currently has academies around the world, in countries such as the United States, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico.
The club is already familiar with MIC events, having participated on several occasions recently, but always in the men’s category, both in MICFootball, held annually on the Costa Brava, and in MICFootball Punta Cana, which opened last summer in the Dominican Republic.
On this occasion, the girls from Catala FC’s U12 and U14 categories will travel to Osona to experience first-hand a tournament that aims to continue growing year after year.
